Overview

This will be a project to modify an existing RC vehicle to have a micro-controller for a brain and use various sensors to navigate through a cluttered terrain.

Components

  • Remote Control Vehicle
    • I have an old RC truck, however it uses 6x C batteries and the controller is missing.
    • I believe all the motors still work however, so it might be possible to strip it down to just chassis and set up our own electrical system and control.
  • Arduino Micro-controller
    • Possibly the Adafruit Industries Moto-shield.
  • 2x distance sensors
    • If we go with IR distance sensors, that is ~$13 a piece.
    • If we go with ultrasonic sensors, that is ~$25 a piece.
