- Processes and Procedures
- What can we improve
- Start a web-page for Tuesday talk subjects. - Subjects, Interests, Contacts,
- Wiki is a good tool, but some visible one-page paper procedures and or signs are also needed.
- Examples: How to apply for membership, a storage box or vertical slot, basic operation of the CNC, Laser, Mill, Lathe...
- Also put in binder by admin computer in Lounge.
- While the paper can go out of date, if we make review of signs a part of Saturday Cleanup and or Wardens Work Day they can be updated.
- What is tripping us up?
- Updates to wiki
- WISIWIG editor for wiki was down. Ian was unaware of the problem and fixed it as of later this evening.
- Ongoing maintenance of wiki and one-page procedures can be a Warden task. Schedule monthly Warden Work Days where a team updates wiki pages. This is a good time to encourage would be wardens to participate.
- More formal maintenance procedures for all machines in the Wiki.
- Saturday clean up check lists.
- What can we improve
- Re-invigorating Hive Culture
- Attracting new members and Engaging Members as they Join
- Increased External Visibility - FB, Meetup
- Classes hosted through Meetup are bringing in people external to Membership
- Post a signup sheet near certification machines for people to leave contact info on interest to get certified. Mill, Lathe, Welding, CNC, Laser, Training for Table saw. Create more How to Classes - Reduce barriers for some one to get started and do something.
- Class payments are moving to Meetup.
- A sample questionnaire has been created for first timers to help with metrics.
- Tuesday Talks are also good. Need to work on getting a queue of people to talk to reduce the burden of lining people up.
- More Inviting Space
- We've come a long way from Summer. I saw a picture from early summer, and it looked like a dump compared to now.
- Lounge
- paint walls. 2 out of 4 have been recently painted. Need to get good advice on color selections and make this a standard.
- new carpet is coming. We need to deodorize the lounge.
- non-gross furniture. We need to put out the call for replacement donations.
- Work area
- move things away from windows (maximize natural light!) get rid of exterior plexi (need to fix windows)
- Much of this will need to wait for spring and maintenance of windows before removing plastic. Also have concerns over sight lines into Hive13 from street to avoid opportunistic break and enter thefts.
- Potentially add counter along east window wall.
- Color!! - Need good advice on Color scheme for decoration. Black and Yellow Hive13 logo colors are not great wall colors for decoration.
- Clear area around coat rack — make sure there is space for purses/bags. Keep it clear. Remove stuff from top of rack.
- Create Merch area? Create Bulletin board for cross advert to other groups like an end cap at the end of kitchen island.
- Bathroom
- Keep it from looking like a skeezy filling station restroom.
- Clean it up.
- covered trash can
- plants in window - Previous attempts to grow plants in bathroom resulted in dead plants. No plant murdering. - Plastic only.
- Window boxes require frequent attention and maintenance.
- Conclusion, strive for low maintenance decorations.
