Service Log

2023-05-08 randerson - Decommissioned Tendenci server in Azure, removed membership.hive13.org domain and cert (for now)

2023-03-25 randerson - Moved MDF network rack (Front door & Star Trek door controllers) to UPS backup power supply.

2023-03-13 randerson - Stopped/Deallocated Azure host: hive13-vm-library-host. Also removed DNS entries: library.hive13.org and staff.library.hive13.org. This was done in order to preserve Azure credits since (for now) the library server is not being actively used. The virtual disk image still remains until we can transition to on-prem hosting.

2023-03-11 randerson - Punched down and installed 6 x Cat6 cables into the IDF-1 patch panel. The cables occupy ports 41,42,43,44,45,46 of the patch panel and are not presently connected to the switch. All 6 cables run into the electronic/3dprinting bay. They still need to be terminated/added to network drops in that area.

2023-03-05 randerson - Updated TLS cert (on revprox) for intweb.at.hive13.org such that the newest cert is being used (managed by /home/hive13/.achme/acme.sh)

2023-03-01 cjdavis - discourse

  • installed aptitude because I like TUIs
  • installed Ubuntu updates
  • ran Discourse cli updates:
    • cd /var/discourse
    • git pull
    • ./launcher rebuild app
  • noticed a warning during that:

WARNING Memory overcommit must be enabled! Without it, a background save or replication may fail under low memory condition. Being disabled, it can can also cause failures without low memory condition, see https://github.com/jemalloc/jemalloc/issues/1328. To fix this issue add 'vm.overcommit_memory = 1' to /etc/sysctl.conf and then reboot or run the command 'sysctl vm.overcommit_memory=1' for this to take effect.

    so I did
  • Discourse still wants cli stuff run, did it again
  • Ok everybody is happy, Discourse now at 3.1.0.beta2
