Overview

Summary

The issue of what happens to the junk (or even "junk") that we deem to be not useful at the Hive is one that has been addressed before in various ways. It's glossed over in HOWTO Clean Hive13 and there is also a Wiki page with resources for disposal of certain waste types - Resource Disposal The purpose of this project is to observe, analyze and methodically plan recycling and disposal of waste at the Hive in order to minimize environmental impact and maximize benefit for the space. Although this isn't quite the same as a lot of the more "build something" kind of deals we have going on I will be actively working on making how we dispose of things better.

Plan for Waste disposal

Wherever possible, waste should be taken apart and broken down in a sensible manner. For example, computers are taken apart. Circuit boards, power supplies, components such as drives are all separated from the case itself.
